Getting started
Connect an account and let your agent answer a spending question.
Before you begin
Vantage lets your agent answer questions about your spending. Connect your accounts, choose what to share and approve access for a limited time. This guide takes you through your first question: “How much did I spend on my Amex card last week?”
1. Connect an account
- Create a Vantage account with your name, email and password, or sign in.
- Open Accounts, select Connect with your bank and complete the connection flow.
- Find your connected account in Accounts. Check its name, last digits and transaction readiness before continuing.
Vantage imports transactions and refreshes them in the background. Your agent reads a snapshot of that data. A connected account may still be waiting for its first transaction sync.
2. Ask your agent
Connect Vantage to Codex or Claude Code with MCP, then ask your spending question. You can also use the CLI. For example:
Find my approved Amex card in Vantage and explain last week’s spending.
If you need access, request it for one hour, give me the approval link,
and wait for me to approve. Read every page before calculating a total.
Separate currencies and explain refunds, pending entries and data freshness.Your agent registers an installation, then returns an approval link. You choose the accounts and duration before granting access.
- Open the approval link and review the agent, task and duration.
- Select the accounts you want to share, then choose Approve transaction access.
- Return to your agent and ask it to continue. It can now read the approved transactions and answer your question.
Access lasts one hour by default, with a maximum of twelve hours. After it expires, your agent must ask for approval again.
3. Review the answer
Check that the answer names the account, date range and currency, and explains how current the transactions are. Your agent should explain any gaps in the data.
Open Activity to see the access Vantage recorded. In Agent access, you can check when permission expires or revoke it at any time.
