Data and privacy

Understand what agents can read, how data stays current and how to delete bank data.

Where your data lives

Vantage manages your bank connection and protects bank credentials in its operational systems. Your agent reads approved transaction snapshots through the API from a separate database.

  1. Vantage’s operational systems connect to the bank, protect provider credentials and import transactions.
  2. A trusted background process copies approved transaction snapshots to a separate PostgreSQL database instance.
  3. The agent read service reads those snapshots. Your agent requests them through the Vantage API, using its installation key and an approved grant. MCP and CLI use the same API.

The agent API provides read-only access to approved transactions. Bank connection and refresh controls belong to the human account.

How transactions stay current

Vantage refreshes bank data on its configured schedule and updates approved snapshots. An agent’s read uses the snapshot available at that time.

Check Accounts for transaction readiness, refresh and reconnect options. A bank may require reconnection or return incomplete data. Transaction responses include sync metadata so your agent can explain freshness.

Delete bank data

In Accounts, select Delete all bank data and review the confirmation. Vantage stops agent access first, then removes connected accounts, stored transactions, bank connection credentials and read snapshots. Background refresh stops for those connections.

ResultMeaning
Bank data deletedDeletion is complete. To bring transactions back later, connect the bank again.
Deletion pendingAccess has stopped. Cleanup or provider disconnection is pending. Select Retry bank-data cleanup.

While deletion is pending, Vantage blocks new bank connections, refresh and approvals. A provider credential may be retained to retry disconnection. Retry cleanup until deletion is complete.

You can also delete bank data with the human CLI:

sh
pnpm --silent vantage human data delete --confirm 'DELETE BANK DATA'
Run only when you intend to delete all connected bank data.

Deletion retains your login, consent history and access history. Transactions already shared remain with the agent. To share new transactions later, reconnect your bank and approve a new request.
